Christ Is Risen

The Republic of Georgia is one of the olderst Orthodox nations. I find their music to be astounding. This is a small clip for Pascha. The hymn being sung is the Georgian: Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!

Christ is risen!

And thank you Father, for all your valuable work throughout the year, it is much appreciated, especially by this Irish ex-pat in Bucharest!
May the Lord free us from these tombs imposed by our governments soon!

    He is risen, indeed!!
This is truly beautiful, both the music and the setting. Be blessed this Pascha, father.
P.S. Georgian script looks a lot like Elvish. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this. Georgia is a fascinating place that I hope to visit someday. Especially since my patron saint is St. Gabriel (Urgebadze) who is from there.

The vid, Father… beautiful! The children singing, the Church … the background music and filming, as in the midst of space and time … the entire universe declares His Glory!

May His greatness, His Grace and Majesty be proclaimed in the Heavens and in the Earth!
    Beneath the earth … done!

Who is this King of Glory?! The Lord of Hosts is His Name!!

Glory to Jesus Christ! He Is Risen!!!!

It is good to live in such a time as this!

This afternoon (minutes ago), a long line of cars, filled with families of the parish, appeared on my street, honking horns, holding up signs with Pascha sayings, and oud shots of joy. Pausing to hang out their windows in sing a few hymns of Pascha. Matushka and I stood in the yard, transfigured with joy at this marvelous gift and celebration.

    How I miss them all!

Father, thank you. This is beautiful. Those kids are gorgeous – and oddly, maybe especially that teary little girl who for whatever reason was not singing, but included anyway. That church (building) is hairs-on-the-back-of -my-neck stunning, especially with this as the soundtrack. Thank you for sharing this, and the story of the parishioners on the street. This – like all times – is indeed a time of wonders if we have eyes to see them. Christ is RISEN. ALLELUIA.

Truly He is Risen. And in the midst of this present darkness, His Light is brighter this year. I think though, like the stars you see out in the country versus the city, His Light is always this bright; we had fewer “shiny” distractions.
Our church choir sang this year – virtual choir format. It was a blessing for our parish to see familiar faces as we heard the beloved song .

    Fr. Stephen,

Thank you for leading me to this performance. I’ve been captivated by it ever since. It’s hard to believe such a strong voice can come out of children so small. But perhaps they are a symbol of our lives in this world…
