Dear Fr. Stephen:

I enjoy reading your posts and very much enjoyed the one on Pentecost.

I, too,was caught off guard when I first attended Pentecost Liturgy in an OCA church. It was, however, because there was no greenery. In the Serbian ORthodox church, grass is brought in and thrown all over the floor of the church. During the kneeling prayers everyone makes wreaths–three time kneeling, three wreaths. At this link you can see a photo of the grass that filled the church and the children gathering it in preparation for the prayers:

And all the churches named Holy Trinity, celebrate that day as their feast day with processions as you will see at that same link.

I had the same reaction the first time I saw trees in church for Pentecost. Lovely! May I ask if you know who painted the icon corner decorated for the Feast of the Trinity? That image is making its way all over Facebook, and I know I’m not the only one wondering who the artist is/was. Thank you for a lovely post!
